About the role
The Accountant II position supports financial activities within the Finance Division and other divisions as assigned. Key responsibilities include recording and approving accounting transactions, creating journal entries, managing fixed assets, and supporting budget and procurement processes.
Responsibilities
- Recording and/or entry of cross functional accounting transactions
- Approves general ledger accounting and/or payroll activities and reconciliations
- Reviews and creates journal entries
- Reviews, coordinates, and corrects CDLE quarterly and year-end diagnostic reporting
- Manages and maintains CDLE’s fixed assets and capital assets
- Process transactions for various general accounting and grant program accounts
- Compiles and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Supports Divisions and Offices with general accounting, budget, procurement, payroll, bank, and grant program accounting needs
- Maintains and monitors general accounting and some grant program fund allocations
- Provides accounting records and transactions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations
- Performs accounting for state and federal fiscal year-end closing activities and other related duties
- Performs fixed asset accounting including the use of FAs, depreciation expense, additions, deletions, and related schedules
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Experience: Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
Education: A combination of related education (27 semester hours completed in accounting or auditing) and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years.
Licensure: Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy counts for six (6) years of the requirement.

Skills
Payroll accounting experience.
Time Keeping and/or Universal Kronos Group application (UKG) experience.
Performing similar duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.
