Accountant II

About the role
This individual will work a hybrid schedule out of the Richfield office. Employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
- Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Prepares journal entries and performs month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Coordinates moderately complex accounting matters and reporting with other departments, locations, divisions, and external customers.
- Supports internal and external audits, ensuring the availability of necessary documentation.
- Performs financial analysis to support management decision-making and identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Prepares ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as required.
- Supports internal control improvements and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Assists in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Monitors changes in accounting standards and regulations and assists in implementing necessary updates to policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Safety Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Insurance accounting experience preferred.
- Completion of or continuing progress toward a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Technical knowledge across various accounting principles and practices.
- Foundational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of company policies, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments.
