Job Responsibilities
- Aid in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Create and post journal entries with proper documentation and supporting details
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements and management reports
- Reconcile bank statements against the general ledger, addressing outstanding items promptly
- Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations, focusing on cash, loans receivable, debt, accrued liabilities, and intercompany accounts
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, escalating complex issues to senior staff
- Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
- Utilize Campfire ERP for transaction processing, general ledger maintenance, and close activities
- Leverage AI tools such as Claude and Shortcut for report drafting, data analysis, and workflow management
- Create and maintain Tableau dashboards and visual reports to communicate financial trends to leadership
- Write and troubleshoot SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze financial data across systems; use Python or similar scripting tools to automate recurring tasks and streamline data analysis
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or 4+ years of related accounting experience (may be considered in lieu of a degree)
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services, mortgage lending, or real estate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Tech-savvy with a genuine interest in modern accounting and data platforms; experience with accounting ERP systems and familiarity with Campfire, Snowflake, Tableau, or AI-assisted tools (Claude, Shortcut) is a strong plus
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and analyzing data; basic coding or scripting experience (e.g., Python) is a plus for automating reports and streamlining data analysis
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines; experience working in a SOX-compliant environment preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services, mortgage lending, or real estate
