About the Role
Performs professional accounting functions supporting the University’s capital construction projects, ensuring compliance with contracts, University policies, and funding requirements.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and monitors project expenditures for capital construction projects, reconciling project accounts and researching/resolving discrepancies.
- Monitors purchase order balances and prepares correcting entries as needed.
- Reviews and processes approved purchase order revisions within the ERP system, verifying accuracy and maintaining detailed project accounting records.
- Coordinates the financial closeout of capital construction projects, partnering with Planning, Design and Construction, Facilities Services, IFAS, Housing, Asset Management, and other departments.
- Reconciles project balances, verifies financial transaction accuracy, prepares documentation for unexpended funds, and assists in resolving outstanding accounting issues.
- Provides operational backup support for key accounting functions, including processing project funding requests, ISP invoices, and related transactions.
- Supports invoice processing and other accounting activities to ensure uninterrupted departmental operations.
- Assists with the preparation and distribution of recurring and ad-hoc financial reports related to Construction Accounting activities.
- Compiles, analyzes, and presents financial data to support management decision-making and responds to internal/external audit requests.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with accounting software.
- Ability to apply problem-solving skills and interpret University, State, and Federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and business-reporting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
