Exact compensation is determined by factors such as education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission).
Responsibilities
- Perform various accounting functions as assigned in accordance with internal controls, procedures, and policies of the accounting department.
- Assist in the month-end closing process, including variance analysis and the preparation and recording of recurring journal entries.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations as assigned.
- Prepare various financial statements, reports, and analysis as requested.
- Process specialized accounting procedures and transactions.
- Review data contained in the general ledger and various sub-systems to ensure accuracy and reasonableness of recorded financial transactions.
- Research and resolve questions regarding general ledger information from personnel.
- Provide backup for various accounting functions as needed to ensure continuity of operations.
- Complete required training associated with job functions to stay updated on best practices and compliance requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the accounting department.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution.
Skills
- Professional level of knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills needed to effectively communicate accounting issues to employees, management, and outside vendors.
- Good analytical skills required to analyze financial and procedural data.
- Adequate knowledge of internal policies and procedures and any respective laws and regulations governing accounting functions to ensure performance of job duties within the proper control environment.
