Job Summary
Support the Assistant Plant Controller in financial and cost accounting functions. Work with internal and external financial reporting, and analysis of manufacturing and financial results for a large manufacturing company.
Role and Responsibilities
- Reconcile and prepare journal entries in areas including but not limited to payroll, inventory, inter-company and eliminations, as well as complete and document the corresponding account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Participate in monthly accounting closing activities and reconciliations, investigate unusual or unexpected results and resolve discrepancies.
- Routinely monitor daily shipping and invoicing activity to verify all shipments have been invoiced timely, in the correct accounting period and for reasonable amounts.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
- Identify opportunities and participate in implementing improvements in business or accounting processes and controls.
- Key team member involved with planning, organizing, coordinating and participating in the annual physical inventory and reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules and provide support for financial audits and other routine reporting requirements.
- Affiliate in analysis, special projects or other work as requested.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field
- 2 - 5+ years of accounting experience, including some in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, data analysis, and pivot tables, along with other Microsoft Office tools

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively to identify, analyze, and resolve issues
- Solid accounting knowledge and critical thinking abilities
- Highly detail-oriented
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
