General Description

JOB SUMMARY: JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN ACCOUNTANT

About the role

This classification involves accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes statistical, fiscal, and payroll records and reports of the department to determine the cost of operations of various activities.
  • Participates in the routine accounting functions of posting, reconciling and preparing special reports.
  • Oversees Accounting Clerks and Cashiers for daily financial activities.
  • Affords assistance in the preparation of budget estimates and reviews encumbrances as to availability of funds.
  • Performs a wide variety of clerical/accounting-related tasks.
  • Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures particularly as they relate to public financial administration.
  • Ability to apply such knowledge to accounting transactions and resolve related problems.
  • Knowledge of modern office machines, methods and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accounting records.
  • Ability to prepare complete accounting reports and statements.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the legal administrative and procedural regulations applicable to the department of assignment.
  • Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets and database files.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office applications.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in the maintenance of accounting records.
  • One (1) year experience working with computer spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Outlook required.

Education, Training and Experience
