About the Role
The Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Medicine & Public Health is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) Accountant. This position will be part of a growing finance team and will provide financial management and transaction processing. This position has a large portfolio and is the main resource for Department activities relating to reimbursements, payments, purchasing and tracking of all expenses. The position serves as the first point of contact for Department faculty staff for advice, direction, training, and problem resolution relating to financial transactions and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Organizes, prepares, and updates financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions
- Prepares and/or approves financial transactions and payments
- Answers questions and provides accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders according to established policies and procedures
- Provides and prepares budgets and projections based on existing data and established policies and procedures
- Assists with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports
- Develops and maintains automated financial systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity
- Prepares and analyzes financial data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements solutions as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- At least 1 year of professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administrative processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and maintaining supporting documentation
Preferred:
- Professional experience working in an academic or healthcare setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Smartsheets, including complex formulas and pivot tables to create financial dashboards
Education:
- Associate's Degree preferred; focus in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a similar field
Compensation
- Starting salary minimum of $62,000/year, negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Schedule
- Work schedule between 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- While most work will be performed remotely, some tasks may require in person work at a designated campus location
