Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant I to join our Accounting and Finance team. This entry-level accounting position is ideal for candidates with experience in general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, revenue accounting, cash reconciliation, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will support the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions while maintaining accounting records in accordance with company policies and established accounting procedures. This position requires strong analytical abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. Candidates with experience supporting accounting operations in a fast-paced business environment and who possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills will thrive in this role. What You'll Do: Prepare and record entry-level journal entries, accruals, and general ledger transactions in accordance with the corporate month-end closing schedule. Perform daily cash reconciliations, revenue reconciliations, and revenue auditing activities to ensure financial accuracy. Assist in maintaining accounting records and supporting general ledger accounting functions. Research accounting transactions and retrieve supporting documentation for senior accounting staff and financial reporting teams. Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations accurately and within established deadlines. Investigate reconciling items, identify discrepancies, and communicate exceptions to senior accounting staff for review and resolution. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes. Assist with accounting audits, compliance activities, and financial documentation requests as needed. Maintain organized accounting records and ensure adherence to company accounting policies and procedures. Carry out any reasonable request assigned by management. Qualifications What You'll Bring: Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Accounting preferred). Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience in a general ledger, month-end close, bookkeeping, staff accountant, accounting specialist, or financial reporting environment. Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes. Experience with accounting software systems, ERP platforms, and financial management applications preferred. Willingness to work overtime during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles. Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools preferred. Professional Skills Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. Excellent Additional Information Why Westgate?
