Accountant I

About the role

The Accountant I performs a variety of accounting assignments requiring sound knowledge of accounting theory and analytical functions. Responsible for accurate, efficient, and timely completion of assignments while preserving the privacy of confidential matters. Maintains the integrity of accounts and the viability of the general ledger system. Assists with the monthly closing process and the development, reporting, and analysis of financial data for special reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform diverse accounting assignments with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Preserve the confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
• Maintain the integrity of accounts and ensure the general ledger system remains viable.
• Assist with the monthly closing process.
• Develop, report, and analyze financial data for special reporting needs.

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Familiarity with accounting and/or budgeting activities in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Understanding of computer and accounting systems.
• Strong financial analytical abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.

Experience

• One year of experience in accounting (preferred).

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required).
