About the Opportunity
The Accountant I is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting transactions and reconciliations, contributing to the financial integrity and reporting accuracy of the organization. This role supports accounting functions primarily within the Agency business and plays a key part in month-end close processes, audit collaboration, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Meet established month-end close deadlines for journal entries
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries in collaboration with various business units
- Account for cash, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and key balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Assist with invoicing tasks, including preparing billing templates and reconciling pass-through expenses
- Resolve issues on assigned accounts and reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset reports
- Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors
- Recommend improvements to accounting controls, procedures, and policies
- Communicate effectively with all organizational levels
- Serve as backup to other Finance department roles as needed

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required at time of hire
- 0-2 years of accounting experience
- Experience with bank and account reconciliations
- Previous remote work experience
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
- Proficiency with complex spreadsheets and accounting systems
- PREFERRED: Public Accounting experience, CPA or CPA track, experience with Microsoft D365
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
