Accountant, Grants Accounting & Reporting

Compensation: $25.96 per hour

About the role

Under direction, this position adheres to generally accepted accounting principles and performs a variety of professional-level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial statements and reports. This role focuses on non-financial aid grants received by the College and works in partnership with employees managing the grants and the office that submits them.

Responsibilities

• Performs fiscal responsibilities for grants and contracts, including invoicing, monthly cash drawdowns/requests, assisting with budgets, and reviewing and approving payments and requisitions.
• Reconciles accounts and complex transactions, summarizes financial positions, and performs analysis on grants and projects.
• Assists auditors, both external college auditors and fiscal reviews from funding agencies, and submits reports to funding agencies as required.
• Abides by federal, state, and other regulations regarding each grant and completes necessary training to stay knowledgeable on grant regulations.
• Collaborates with Grant Administration office, Human Resources, Accounts Payable, Financial Aid, Financial Accounting, and Payroll to ensure accurate work completion.
• Ensures College fiscal policies and procedures are followed for grants and collaborates with departments to determine accounting for different types of contracts.
• Adheres to generally accepted accounting principles and supports the accounting department as needed.
• Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members.
• Attends required department meetings and training, works overtime as needed to meet workload demands, and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• One (1) year of accounting experience (an appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify).
• State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Full-time position, 40 scheduled hours per week.
