Position Summary
The Accountant I supports the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department by performing a variety of accounting functions, including corporate credit card reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial record maintenance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform monthly corporate credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Review employee expense documentation to ensure compliance with Company policies.
- Aid with accounts payable processing, including invoice matching, coding, vendor setup, and payment processing.
- Support accounts receivable activities, including cash application, payment tracking, collections support, and customer account reconciliation.
- Prepare account reconciliations and resolve outstanding variances.
- Aid with preparing journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, electronic files, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare reports and schedules using Microsoft Excel.
- Research accounting issues and assist with resolving discrepancies.
- Respond to internal inquiries regarding accounting transactions and financial records.
- Aid with audits by gathering documentation and supporting schedules.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience, including internships.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
