Accountant (DOH/ASD#10683)
Why does the job exist?
The position is responsible for auditing a variety of payment vouchers to internal and external entities to ensure accuracy and compliance with State/Federal rules and regulations and the NM State Procurement code. This position will maintain a state issue procurement card (P-card). This position will also be responsible for providing subject matter expertise to the various divisions and facilities.
How does it get done?
- Conduct comprehensive and complete audits of standard vouchers, travel vouchers, Prior-Year vouchers, non-travel vouchers, and journal vouchers.
- Review and submit documentation for warrant cancellations and reissue payments.
- Absorb and assist internal entities with transactions made with the agency's p-card.
- Prepare reconciliation documents related to expenses incurred on the assigned p-card.
- Absorb and assist with processing invoices for payment.
- Absorb and assist with mailing of state issued warrants/ACH remittance.
- Provide guidance and assistance to DOH divisions and facilities.

Internal/external customers of Department of Health.
Minimum Qualification
- High School or Equivalency and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting.
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
- Sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
