Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate cash activity records and fixed asset schedules
- Support the accounting team with reconciliations and subledger maintenance
- Play a key part in the month-end close process and ensure the integrity of financial data
- Independently analyze, interpret GAAP, and exercise professional judgment in determining the appropriate capitalization, depreciation, and disposition of fixed assets
- Maintain and update depreciation schedules and record depreciation entries on a monthly basis
- Coordinate with the project team on asset capitalization
- Analyze CIP activity and determine the proper capitalization of assets when properties are placed in service
- Evaluate asset disposals when properties are sold, including determining the appropriate treatment of accumulated depreciation and distinguishing depreciation to be expensed versus amounts allocated to gain or loss on sale
- Prepare and set up wire transfers for approval, ensuring the accuracy of payment details and proper documentation prior to submission
- Ensure compliance with all policies and standards, as well as state, federal, and other regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated proficiency in bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting
- Experience with fixed assets, including maintaining asset schedules, recording additions and disposals, and managing depreciation
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance
- Experience in a construction, real estate, or multi-entity accounting environment
- Familiarity with construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting and project cost tracking
- Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP) and internal controls
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and general ledger data
- Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical accounting applications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgment in making accounting decisions
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment without compromising accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with management, project teams, and external partners
- Organized, detail-oriented individual capable of maintaining accurate records in a high-volume environment
Pay
$68,000.00 - $84,000.00 / Annually
