About the role
The Accountant position at Mohawk Industries is an established performer responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintains updated and accurate automated or manual filing and data systems that provides a quick reference database of records.
- Fulfills reporting requirements for rebates and other ad hoc requests.
- Assists in preparation of the consolidation of inter-company transactions.
- Processes Financial close which includes scheduling nightly automated close processes in JD Edwards and checking month-end reports.
- Collaborates with corporate accounting team with account reconciliations and recording of journal entries.
- Compiles, analyzes, calculates cost data, and maintains the standard cost for purchased product.
- Records and reviews cost calculations with management, to ensure consistency with the selling price.
- Reconciles and researches excessive variance issues and determining causes.
- Maintains and manages all components of cost sheets and specification sheets for all budget forecasts.
- Enters all necessary budget information onto Overhead sheets by department and prepare summary of budget by locations.
- Verifies that statistical and financial reports are accurate and in compliance.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of operating and capital budgeting processes.
- Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of technical, process, and business principles as well as industry practices and standards.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
Skills
