Accountant - Budget

About the role

The Budget Accountant uses independent judgement and analytical skills in a highly computerized environment with responsibilities for:

• monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt
• the preparation and filing of Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements
• the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns
• reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority, and cost analysis

Responsibilities

Complete complex accounting analysis requiring the application of accounting theory independently.

• Monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt
• The preparation and filing of Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements with independent judgement
• The preparation and maintenance of annual budgets, Federal/State and Local tax returns, reporting to the state COPN Regulatory Authority, and cost analysis with independent judgement
• Interpret and communicate federal and state regulations
• Manage and assess priorities and deadlines with independent judgement
• Assess the theoretical integrity of accounting functions performed in the area of responsibility
• Recommend and implements improvements
• Serve as a liaison with regulatory and taxing agencies, external consultants, auditors, and RHS leadership and administrators

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree, Accounting or Finance/Business with concentration in Accounting (Required)
• Masters Degree, Related field (Preferred)
• 1 year Accounting experience with Analysis/Budget/Financial Statements (Required)
• Prior experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance (Preferred)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - The AICPA (Preferred)

Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Pay

Hiring Range $53,900.00 - $74,150.00/Annual

Schedule

Location: Newport News, VA (not eligible for remote work)
