Texas Workforce Commission connects people with careers across the state. Based in Austin on the north lawn of the Texas State Capitol, we have offices statewide. This position is located at 101 E 15th St, Austin, TX, in the Accounting/Financial Reporting department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex (journey-level) accounting work under general supervision, with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
  • Process forms, research related data, classify, code, and accurately post transactions related to vendor setups in TINS and WRAPS.
  • Assist with Fed Grant Cash Recon/Negative Expenditures.
  • Assist others in the agency on routine to complex inquiries involving transaction errors, reconciliations, configuration, and other financial aspects.
  • Manage agency collected revenue grants, ensuring proper accounting and expenditure in the internal accounting system and USAS system.
  • Assist others in the agency with routine to complex inquiries involving time sheets and ensure all time sheets are properly certified at the end of each month.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and detailed desk manuals for various functions within Accounting Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years and six months of full-time experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A license to practice as a certified public accountant in Texas will satisfy the education and/or experience requirements.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Must be a Texas resident or willing to relocate to Texas.
  • TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas.
