Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting functions in support of accurate financial reporting and timely month-end close.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP and internal control requirements.
  • Record and analyze journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate recognition of revenue and expenses.
  • Support accounts receivable activities, including billing accuracy, follow-up collections, and resolution of outstanding balances.
  • Aid in budget-to-actual analysis and investigate material variances; communicate findings to management as needed.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and respond to internal and external audit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, company accounting policies, and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations, project managers, HR, and leadership to support financial accuracy and operational decision-making.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Provide continuous communication, support, and training to project managers and other company personnel for implementation of any and all areas as defined above.
  • Continually update job knowledge and evaluate internal operational processes to determine how competitive and current the organization is with the latest trends in the industry.
  • Participate in conferences and educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain professional networks; and represent the organization in the community.
  • Participate on committees and special projects and seek additional responsibilities.
  • Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. One to three years of relevant experience in accounting, accounts receivable, billing, or contract accounting. Experience using accounting software or ERP systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet firm deadlines. Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a federal contracting, nonprofit, or AbilityOne environment. Familiarity with Service Contract Act (SCA) requirements and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). Experience with Sage Intacct, Wide Area Workflow (WAWF), or similar government billing and accounting systems. Exposure to contract billing, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and audit support activities. Experience working in a high-volume, multi-contract accounting environment. Demonstrated ability to improve processes, support audits, and manage competing priorities independently.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, individuals will sit for long periods of time working in front of a computer; lift or move objects weighting up to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, phones, and smartphones.
