About the role
The Town of Marana is seeking an Accountant to join the Finance Department. This is a full-time position offering meaningful work that impacts the community positively.
Responsibilities
- Assists in maintaining the general ledger including the preparation of journal entries.
- Aids in financial audits.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable for various grants and CIP projects.
- Prepares periodic reimbursement requests.
- Prepares reports, such as unclaimed property and financial surveys.
- Supports various projects and answers general accounting inquiries, including tax-related questions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- One year of experience in accounting/finance.
- Completion of the Town of Marana Background check.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or a closely related field.
- Governmental accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Access.
