About the role
The City of Seattle Finance and Administrative Services is seeking qualified candidates for an Accountant position. The position reports to the Accounting Manager and will perform a variety of accounting tasks mainly Asset Management and General Ledger functions.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintenance and reconciliation of Peoplesoft Asset Management (AM).
- Support the General Ledger (GL) and Project Cost (PC) functions related to capital assets.
- Reviews and reconciles capital asset GL accounts with other modules and side systems.
- Aids in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and schedules.
- Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. (Or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of the class.)
- Three or more years of accounting experience in asset management, project costing, or general ledger.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial system.
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly motivated self-starter who performs well in a continuously changing environment.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability; can assess critical information needs, develop inquiries, and ask questions to obtain the key elements needed to resolve an issue.
- Ability to estimate timelines and resources to accomplish a task, effectively monitor progress, and make frequent status reports.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Results oriented, able to handle multiple priorities, and produce accurate, high quality and thorough work.
Work Environment
This position requires a minimum of three days per week of onsite work. Alternative Work Arrangements and hybrid telework schedules for work conducted in a normal office environment may be considered and will be based on operational needs and consistency with City policies.
