Responsibilities
- Manage recurring reconciliations and financial reviews tied to project costs, prepaid balances, deposits, reserves, inventory-related accounts, work-in-process activity, and month-end close deliverables.
- Examine budget versus actual results to highlight spending patterns, explain unusual fluctuations, and identify omitted, duplicated, or misclassified costs requiring follow-up.
- Communicate financial issues in a clear and actionable way by providing commentary, recommendations, and updates to internal business partners and leadership.
- Review purchasing and invoicing activity to detect incomplete support, irregular transaction status changes, vendor-related concerns, pricing inconsistencies, and other preventable cost issues.
- Prepare and share reports such as exception summaries, scorecards, variance analyses, and open-cost tracking tools that help teams prioritize risks and next steps.
- Reconcile and monitor reserve activity through rollforwards, cleanup efforts, and open-item analysis to maintain accurate and supportable balances.
- Investigate discrepancies caused by timing differences, coding errors, duplicate entries, missing documentation, or mismatched system data, and drive timely resolution.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Purchasing, operations, and other internal stakeholders to confirm approvals, resolve issues, and keep financial transactions moving accurately and on schedule.
- Develop and refine training guides, process documentation, review checklists, and recurring task instructions to improve consistency, efficiency, and knowledge transfer.
- Apply Excel, reporting tools, automation, and AI-enabled technology to reduce manual effort, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve how teams review and act on financial information.
- Experience supporting accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger activity, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Strong analytical ability with a track record of reviewing financial data, identifying exceptions, and resolving discrepancies accurately.
- Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools used for reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Able to manage month-end responsibilities and maintain organized, reliable supporting documentation.
- Comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams to investigate issues, communicate findings, and drive timely follow-up.
- Knowledge of cost analysis, account reconciliation, and internal control best practices.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
