Accountant
Responsibilities
- Manage month-end accounting activities, including preparing schedules and supporting the timely completion of the close process.
- Record and review journal entries to ensure financial transactions are properly classified and accurately reflected in the general ledger.
- Maintain the integrity of general ledger accounts by researching variances and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Perform account reconciliations on a regular basis and follow through on outstanding items until cleared.
- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate differences between bank activity and internal financial records.
- Aid in preparing financial data and supporting documentation needed for internal reporting and review.
- Monitor accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established financial procedures.
Requirements
- Experience working in accounting with direct responsibility for month-end close activities.
- Strong understanding of general ledger structure and core accounting principles.
- Proven ability to prepare and post journal entries with a high degree of accuracy.
- Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations and resolving unreconciled items.
- Proficiency in completing bank reconciliations and identifying transaction discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a detail-focused services environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, and at least 2 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a professional services setting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred but not required.
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and organizational abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
