Responsibilities
- Processes cash receipts and reconciles to supporting documentation.
- Processes cash disbursements to include verification that all required documentation and authorizations have been received.
- Compiles and analyzes other financial information in order to record journal entries in the general ledger accounts.
- Codes invoices and other expenses to the proper general ledger accounts.
- Prepares accurate and timely financial statements, including cash flows and related footnote information for review by Director and Controller.
- Tracks receipt and disbursement of state and federal appropriations and related spending.
- Maintains current account analyses and reconciliations to ensure accurate financial statements, the safeguarding of assets, and an effective audit trail.
- Assists with preparation of the annual budget.
- Responds to inquiries or requests for information from internal users of statements and financial reports.
- Reviews leases, contracts, agreements, resolutions, board memos, program funds usage restrictions, trust indentures, appropriations, grants, legislation, etc. to ensure administrative and accounting compliance.
- Makes sure outstanding commitments and obligations are monitored.
- Supports transaction processing and reporting of activity within assigned programs, to include programmatic reporting to internal and external sources.
- Provides back-up and assistance to other accountants as needed.
- Prepares schedules and submits information required by independent, federal, and state auditors to facilitate timely audits.
- Completes annual performance self-assessment.
- Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Five years experience in government, general private, or public accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or equivalent professional training preferred.
- Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel skills, Dynamics GP and Business Central, and ability to learn new software packages.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic understanding of GAAP; ability to research technical issues in GASB and FASB pronouncements and report findings.
- Familiarity with federal grant compliance requirements and 2 CFR Part 200 Uniform Guidance.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with other departments to convey and solicit financial information.
- Teamwork and communication skills to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle various tasks simultaneously.

Reporting Structure
Reports to the Accounting Manager – Administrative/Treasury.
