About the Role
The Accountant will support the Finance department's general accounting functions, including payroll and accounts payable activities.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Accounting Manager and the Human Resources Department on bi-weekly processing of payroll.
- Prepare payroll entries for the accounting system.
- Coordinate backup for each payroll period with the HR department regarding time sheets and time worked for all staff.
- Provide reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on payroll activities.
- Prepare the required disability payment reports.
- Process accounts payable in the accounting system on a weekly basis.
- Be responsible for all approvals of the priority invoice listings.
- Enter invoices into the accounts payable system.
- Process payments per the weekly accounts payable disbursements protocol.
- Prepare reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on the Accounts Payable activity.
- Perform research on payors as needed and account histories.
- Enter journal entries into the accounting system relative to all expenses as required.
- Perform other general accounting functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
- Two years of experience in the healthcare environment is preferred.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and accounting software, including BI software.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Travel
This job may require minimal travel between clinic sites and/or business travel depending on scheduling needs.
