Responsibilities
- Compile, file, and record a wide variety of financial accounting transactions and entries necessary for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year end including but not limited to ACH deposits, interest calculations, and ledger corrections
- Reconcile various accounts including but not limited to Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, etc. to maintain accurate balances
- Assist the Controller with external financial audits and with preparation of the College’s annual comprehensive financial report, including the statistical and management sections
- Process, prepare, and submit state and federal financial reports/surveys
- Aid the Controller with account and reporting functions specific to the HCC Foundation including, but not limited to, preparing monthly journal entries and processing budget transfers; preparing monthly financial statements; and assisting the Foundation’s annual budget and its entries into the institution’s financial systems
- Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of facilitating communication and providing guidance and/or information
- Prepare daily accounting for ICISP and all other fiduciary activities
- Perform monthly entries and tracking of the asset inventory management and maintenance for fixed asset purposes
Requirements
- Associate degree in accounting, business, finance, business administration, or related discipline
- Minimum one year of accounting, accounts payable, financial reporting, or business office operations experience
- Knowledge of or experience with finance and accounting principles
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and inclusively within a diverse campus community as well as with external vendors and auditors
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to problem-solve, work independently, and function professionally under pressure
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook
- Maintain confidentiality, demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, and work independently within strict timeframes and deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Accounting experience in higher education
- PeopleSoft accounts payable, general ledger, or commitment control experience
- Knowledge of or experience with GASB, ICCB, federal and state regulations and laws
