About the role

This pivotal role ensures the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, directly contributing to the strategic decision-making that drives our luxury lifestyle media company's continued success and expansion in the competitive publishing industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis.
• Handle general ledger maintenance and process payroll for our team.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support departmental goals.
• Review invoices, track expenses, and generate reports for management review on a weekly basis.
• Collaborate closely with the editorial, marketing, and sales teams to provide financial insights on projects like high-profile events and luxury brand partnerships.
• Conduct variance analysis against budgets monthly.
• Prepare tax documentation and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
• Lead small audits or process improvements, delivering key metrics such as cost savings and profitability ratios to optimize operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, preferably within media, publishing, or luxury sectors.
• Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems such as NetSuite.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling.
• CPA certification or progress toward it is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Florida state tax regulations is a plus.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and audit processes to handle complex revenue streams from subscriptions, advertising, and events.
