About the role

Netflix seeks a skilled Accountant in Los Gatos, CA to manage financial records, ensure compliance, and support strategic decisions for our global entertainment leader. As a key contributor to the Finance team, you will handle critical accounting functions that directly impact our ability to produce award-winning content, expand globally, and deliver value to subscribers worldwide. Your precision and insights will help shape the financial strategies behind blockbuster series and films, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, reconcile accounts, and manage general ledger entries on a daily basis, ensuring all transactions are recorded promptly.
• Review budgets, forecast expenses, and collaborate with production and content teams weekly to track project costs, delivering reports that inform decision-making.
• Close books monthly, compute variances against budgets, and prepare reconciliations for audits, while monitoring key metrics like cost per title and revenue per subscriber.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including tax specialists, FP&A teams, and international finance groups, to support quarterly closings and annual audits.
• Lead small projects, such as implementing new accounting software or streamlining royalty payment processes, contributing to process improvements that enhance departmental productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in media, tech, or entertainment industries.
• CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Proficiency in ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Experience with financial modeling tools.
• Familiarity with content royalty accounting, subscription revenue recognition, and international tax compliance.
