Accountant

Responsibilities

• Aid in the closing and reporting process by preparing journal entries, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and analyzing variances in income statement and balance sheet accounts.
• Communicate and coordinate with other departments and regional personnel, including serving as the primary financial contact for the assigned region.
• Analyze financial reports and records to ensure accurate accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
• Prepare analyses and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
• Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures and internal controls.
• Participate in internal and external audits within the functional area.
• Contribute to team efforts by resolving issues and participating in special projects and assignments.
• Support other projects and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

• One to three years of related work experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in railroad settings is not necessary.
• Identify and resolve problems promptly and effectively, gather and analyze information, and develop solutions.
• Show strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to resolve conflicts, communicate clearly, and maintain a positive team spirit.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team, balancing individual and team responsibilities, and contribute to fostering a positive team environment.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred, but degrees in finance, business, or related fields, combined with relevant work experience, are also considered.
