Responsibilities
- Aid in the closing and reporting process by preparing journal entries, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and analyzing variances in income statement and balance sheet accounts.
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments and regional personnel, including serving as the primary financial contact for the assigned region.
- Analyze financial reports and records to ensure accurate accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
- Prepare analyses and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures and internal controls.
- Participate in internal and external audits within the functional area.
- Contribute to team efforts by resolving issues and participating in special projects and assignments.
- Support other projects and perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- One to three years of related work experience is preferred, but not required.
- Experience in railroad settings is not necessary.
- Identify and resolve problems promptly and effectively, gather and analyze information, and develop solutions.
- Show strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to resolve conflicts, communicate clearly, and maintain a positive team spirit.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, balancing individual and team responsibilities, and contribute to fostering a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred, but degrees in finance, business, or related fields, combined with relevant work experience, are also considered.
