Position Overview
Elev8 Baltimore is hiring an Accountant to play a key role in bringing finance operations fully in-house. As we transition from an external fiscal agent to an internal finance team, this position will help strengthen monthly close processes, maintain accurate and timely financial records, and support grant and contract reporting across a growing portfolio of programs.

This Accountant will help ensure stability and confidence during that transition, so leadership, program teams, and funders can rely on timely, accurate financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger with accurate coding by program, grant, and cost center.
- Support monthly close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Absorb accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipt tracking.
- Support grant invoicing, reimbursements, and restricted fund monitoring.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules.
- Absorb support for annual audit preparation and internal financial reporting.
- Absorb support for documentation and knowledge transfer as finance operations move in-house.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience; nonprofit or grant accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred) and strong Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a growing, evolving environment.
- CPA or CPA-track a plus but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a salary range of $70,000 to $85,000, based on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, retirement plan contributions, and professional development opportunities.
