We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support our accounting and financial reporting functions. This remote role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing allocations and journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and producing recurring and special reports. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with advanced Microsoft Excel skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Prepare, review, and post recurring, accrual, allocation, reclassification, and adjusting journal entries. Develop and maintain allocation methodologies for expenses across departments, entities, locations, programs, or service lines. Perform monthly balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies promptly. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities while meeting established deadlines. Prepare standard financial reports, management schedules, variance analyses, and special or ad hoc reporting for business leaders. Analyze financial activity, identify unusual trends or errors, and recommend corrective entries or process improvements. Collaborate with finance, operations, revenue cycle, accounts payable, payroll, and other teams to ensure complete and accurate accounting records. Provide schedules and documentation for internal reviews, external audits, and other compliance requests. Protect confidential financial and healthcare-related information and follow applicable privacy, security, and internal control requirements. Improve and document accounting processes, reporting tools, and Excel-based workflows. Perform other accounting projects and duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. At least 2 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on general ledger, journal entry, reconciliation, and month-end close responsibilities. Accounting experience within healthcare, such as a hospital, physician group, home health, pharmacy, health plan, or other healthcare services organization. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements, data validation, and large-data analysis. Experience using an enterprise resource planning or general ledger system. Demonstrated accuracy, analytical ability, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to manage competing priorities, meet close deadlines, and communicate effectively in a remote environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with multi-location entity accounting, intercompany transactions, cost-center allocations, or service-line reporting. Experience with accounting within the healthcare industry. Experience with reporting, business intelligence, automation, or data-query tools.
