About the role
Join the City of Round Rock as an Accountant and help maintain the financial integrity of one of the fastest-growing communities in Central Texas.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial records across several fund types, including General Fund, trust and agency funds, capital project funds, and economic development agreements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare related journal entries to ensure financial accuracy.
- Produce regular and special reports for City management, Council, and external agencies.
- Prepare and maintain key account reconciliations, including property tax, sales tax, miscellaneous receivables, and bank/outstanding check reconciliations.
- Support strong internal accounting controls throughout the department.
- Audit financial documents for accuracy and compliance with City policies and applicable laws.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal departments, regional governments, and partner organizations.
- Assist with year-end reporting and annual audit activities.
- Contribute to special projects led by the Accounting Supervisor or Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- Additional work experience may substitute for up to two years of education on a year-for-year basis.
- At least two (2) years of experience in Finance or Accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License.
