About the role
This Accountant position is a Contract to Hire role based in Mediacom Park, NY. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and filing financial statements, reconciling general ledger accounts, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting within a corporate environment.
Responsibilities
- Compile, examine, and prepare financial statements and reports to accurately reflect the organization’s financial position.
- Determine and explain causes for monthly variances in financial statements, providing clear analysis and documentation.
- Analyze general ledger accounts and reconcile inconsistencies on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Research financial data to support the development of budget assumptions, reports, and financial projects.
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments to ensure financial compliance within a corporate setting.
- Support and maintain practices that align with SOX compliance requirements.
- Assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Identify, understand, and resolve expense and revenue issues to ensure accurate financial results.
- Assist with all month-end analyses for review by the Controller prior to financial sign-off.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits, reviews, and internal controls.
Requirements
- 1–4 years of professional accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, including reconciliations and adjustments.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close processes and journal entry preparation.
- Ability to prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and related reports.
- Experience with bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting budget development and financial projects.

Work Environment
This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is based at a corporate headquarters where vice presidents and executives visit frequently, and a professional attitude and attire are expected. The accounting team consists of approximately ten members with tenures ranging from a few months to many years, representing differing age groups and cultural backgrounds in a diverse and friendly environment. Time off is restricted during the month-end close period, from the 22nd through the end of each month, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00 per hour.

Schedule
This is a fully onsite position in Mediacom Park, NY, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Time off is restricted during the month-end close period (22nd through the end of each month).
