About the role
This position is responsible for ensuring accounting treatment is recorded in accordance with GAAP, maintaining accurate and reliable financial statements, establishing and maintaining internal controls, conducting financial monitoring to ensure cost efficiency and compliance within the Department’s accounting, budgeting and fiscal bureaus, assisting with maintaining the database of MDT assets, and ensuring state compliance with complex federal regulations. Establishes goals, objectives, and priorities for all accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Ensures accounting treatment is recorded in accordance with GAAP
- Maintains accurate and reliable financial statements
- Establishes and maintains internal controls
- Conducts financial monitoring to ensure cost efficiency and compliance
- Assists with maintaining the database of MDT assets
- Ensures state compliance with complex federal regulations
- Provides technical assistance to division/district financial contacts, budget analysts, and project management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- OR 4 years of related accounting experience in lieu of a degree
- 1 year of related accounting experience
- Alternative combinations of related experience or education may be considered
Qualifications
- Advanced and functional knowledge of the financial reporting structure and related accounting systems for assigned program(s)
- High proficiency in utilizing Excel to complete work

- Base pay established by the agency pay rules
Schedule
- Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules
