ACCOUNTANT 1
About the role
The LSU AgCenter focuses on research, extension, and teaching to benefit Louisiana's agricultural sector and improve its economic contributions. We provide valuable information on topics such as agriculture, nutrition, health, disaster preparedness, and more.
Responsibilities
- Review monthly financial statements and ensure proper charging of operating revenues and expenditures.
- Prepare income statements by consolidating accounting data and interpret results.
- Aid in preparing annual budgets and forecasts, manage year-end and account-end closing activities.
- Maintain and monitor individual faculty accounts, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Perform in-house audits and report non-compliance or account changes to management.
- Create and produce complex accounting reports.
- Manage budget projections for multiple accounts and monitor and forecast expenditures for state funds and grant funds.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
- Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
- A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
- An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
- Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
