Location: Nashville, TN – Department of Finance & Administration, Davidson County. This position is hybrid (in-office and remote).

Pay

$4,057.00 – $6,099.00 monthly ($48,684.00 – $73,188.00 annually).

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting; or
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree including thirty-six quarter hours in accounting.

About the role

Under immediate supervision, this is the entry-level position in the accounting sub-series. Supervision is initially close, but becomes more general as the incumbent learns procedures and practices. After successful completion of a mandatory one-year training period, the employee will be reclassified to the next higher class; inadequate or marginal performance during the training period will result in automatic demotion or termination.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors federal and third-party grant and program funds to ensure accurate fund results.
  • Audits basic invoices and billings for compliance with departmental policies and procedures, contract terms, federal and state laws, and regulations.
  • Audits tax-related accounting documents to determine compliance with federal tax laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes general ledger transactions to ensure and verify the accurate recording and/or application of funds.
  • Analyzes account documentation submitted by external customers to determine accurate and appropriate expenditures.
  • Performs basic reconciliations of general ledger accounts, prepares financial activity reports, processes basic accounts payable transactions and accounting journal entries in electronic databases, and prepares sales tax returns as required.
  • Gathers account information from internal and external customers to update and maintain accurate account postings, support transactions, and perform reconciliations.
  • Solves basic problems related to customer billing based on reporting and research.
  • Manages long-term projects to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Prioritizes daily tasks to meet deadlines and facilitate efficient task completion.
  • Communicates with external customers regarding basic issues with financial transactions.
