About the role
This position's principal purpose is to expedite positive cash flow, maximize reimbursement, and reduce/eliminate financial loss by efficient billing, follow-up, and collections of patient accounts.
Responsibilities
- Submit charge information into the appropriate system
- Post payments and follow up on patient account balances, including insurance and patient financial balances
- Process a specified number of accounts daily based on customer specialty and unique billing requirements
- Contact payers regarding payment and resolve incorrect payment issues
- Ensure balances after insurance payments are correct, including entry of corrections into systems
- Reconcile monthly reports
- Demonstrate quality customer service to internal and external customers
- Bill and collect outstanding dollars through interaction with payers
- Actively protect the financial resources of Bethesda Healthcare, Inc.
- Complete assigned workload based on predefined key performance indicators daily, ensuring accuracy
- Produce quality work consistently
- Participate in monthly billing meetings with customer contacts
- Prepare status reports and submit agenda items to the manager one business day prior to meetings
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of billing and follow-up procedures for all BWC and non-BWC payers through cross-training and experience
- Work with minimal supervisory oversight and exercise appropriate judgment in identifying instances requiring management intervention
- Identify and communicate process improvements to the Manager in a timely manner
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 3–4 years of experience in a related field (Required)
- Specialized knowledge in Worker’s Compensation billing and other payer sources
Skills
- Proper customer service skills toward internal and external customers through prompt and courteous communications
- Ability to work with minimal supervisory oversight
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
