About the role

The Account Specialist supports the maintenance and growth of Apex’s business within assigned customer accounts. This role involves developing technical knowledge of water treatment programs through hands-on training and mentorship. As experience grows, the Account Specialist will increasingly partner with customers to recommend solutions, support account growth, and contribute to new sales efforts, with potential progression into advanced roles.

Responsibilities

  • Serve existing customer base and grow territory with the help of the leadership team
  • Develop account management responsibilities as a territory is developed
  • Interact with site personnel in various departments to sell and support Apex's water treatment products and services for boiler, cooling, RO, process, and drinking water systems at numerous customer locations across multiple industries
  • Work onsite at customer locations to provide routine, day-to-day service to ensure water treatment programs operate within optimal ranges
  • Participate in delivery, installation, commissioning, and repair of systems at customer sites
  • Manage and place orders, track inventory and product usage at each customer site, and serve as the primary contact for assigned accounts
  • Deliver value to customers by participating in routine service and business reviews, ensuring clear and consistent communication
  • Support warehouse inventory management and day-to-day operations, including safety, quality, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Provide routine delivery of chemicals to customer sites, including Envirosafe transfers
  • Assist with receiving items and preparing orders for pick-up with LTL freight companies
  • Project a professional image of Apex through a positive attitude, helpfulness, and reliable attendance
  • Develop professional and technical knowledge to provide sound water treatment recommendations; continuously improve through online training and mentorship
  • Local travel is expected, including approximately 30% travel outside of assigned region with overnight stays
  • Maintain vehicle in good operating condition and keep up with recommended maintenance
  • Participate in customer-facing seminars and weekly team meetings
  • Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical/analytical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and exhibit leadership skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn and possess knowledge of Apex product portfolio and application uses
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or equivalent skills
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to abide by Company standards for operating motor vehicles
  • Willingness and ability to become forklift certified
  • Ability to physically provide service at customer facilities within a wide range of environments
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time outside of assigned region, including overnight stays
  • Attend Company’s required safety trainings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current and valid CDL B
  • Current and valid Hazmat endorsement
  • Forklift certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Past experience in technical sales and/or service in industrial water treatment or specialty chemical industry
