Account Manager, Stop Loss - Western US
Symetra’s West Region Stop Loss team is looking for an Account Manager to manage new and renewal business alongside sales representatives, supporting collective sales goals.
About the role
As the Stop Loss Account Manager, you will partner with sales representatives and Home Office personnel—including support services, underwriting, and management—to deliver value-added solutions that drive sales growth and persistency. Through proactive account management, you’ll build strong relationships with assigned accounts, brokers, and internal teams to meet customer expectations. The role requires a solid grasp of internal procedures and renewal processes to provide timely, detailed responses to clients and business partners.
Responsibilities
- Manage the overall service experience and customer needs for existing accounts through proactive account management, including scheduled calls, emails, conference calls, and webinars.
- Monitor account claim reporting requirements, premium remittances, and timely uploading of information into the Employer Excess Loss platform.
- Respond to client inquiries and proactively identify potential concerns to ensure positive outcomes.
- Lead the renewal process to retain active and profitable accounts in collaboration with the Regional Sales Manager, Underwriting, and Broker partners.
- Manage new client orientation, onboarding, and installation from point of sale through contract delivery, including demonstrating the client Group Online (GO) portal and other beneficial programs.
- Partner with the RFP Analyst (RA) team to ensure a consistent customer experience for internal and external business partners, mentoring RAs on broker relationships and rapport-building.
- Collaborate on special projects or division initiatives, such as annual post-task reviews and process improvements.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; college degree or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of related work experience.
- Consultative approach to servicing clients and business partners, emphasizing Symetra’s value proposition.
- Proven ability to build and cultivate productive partnerships with internal teams to successfully manage customer relationships.
- Proactive client contact strategy.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, resilience, self-motivation, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Must hold or acquire a Resident Life/Health license within 6 months of start date.

Pay
Base salary: $32.80 - $54.64 hourly, plus eligibility for a company annual bonus.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and maintain work authorization throughout employment.
Remote work requires a minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload (fiber, cable, or DSL—no satellite, cellular, or dial-up).
