Account Managers drive sales and profit in their assigned territory through consultative, face-to-face and telephone engagement. They identify and act on high-potential opportunities with both existing and new customers while upholding Brenntag’s core values and customer-excellence focus.
Responsibilities
- Customer Business Development (65%)
- Meet sales objectives, retain customers, and improve satisfaction via both in-person and digital channels.
- Identify cross- and range-selling opportunities with existing customers; engage relevant stakeholders (e.g., Brenntag Essentials sales staff).
- Develop and align territory sales plans and growth targets with Sales Manager.
- Conduct frequent customer visits; prepare using available tools, coordinate, negotiate, and close proposals.
- Manage spot business and rush offers; coordinate with Commercial Assistant as needed.
- Liaise with internal teams (Sales Management, Industry Marketing, Application Development) to deliver timely, value-maximized solutions.
- Serve as primary commercial contact for customers in assigned territory.
- Conduct market studies to test demand for new product opportunities.
- Leverage Brenntag Connect to generate and maximize sales.
- New Customer Generation (10%)
- Spot and launch sales projects in collaboration with Industry Marketing, Application Development, and suppliers.
- Identify, prioritize, and contact prospective customers; nurture leads through the pipeline.
- Collaborate with Brenntag Essentials sales staff on new Specialties business opportunities.
- Sales & General Administration (15%)
- Set and maximize prices using value-based pricing and customer segmentation within Product Management guidelines.
- Maintain accurate CRM data: document business cases, post-visit notes, and customer projects.
- Update customer opportunity pipelines and potentials in CRM.
- Complete sales and revenue-related reporting.
- Drive commercial and functional excellence based on Commercial Excellence Function guidance.
- Provide regular product-demand forecasts to Industry Marketing to optimize projections.
- Know-How Management (10%)
- Maintain up-to-date product, technical, and application knowledge through training.
- Stay current with product/solution portfolio and market changes.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Business, Science, or equivalent (preferred).
- 3–5 years of sales experience, ideally in chemical distribution.
- Product, technical, and market knowledge of the relevant industry/application.
- Frequent travel as required by business needs.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
- Superior communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial understanding and self-management capabilities.
