The Opportunity
The Account Manager II manages a more complex or specialized book of insurance business, providing professional, courteous service to clients, carriers, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues. They may work independently, as part of a team, or with a Producer to manage client needs, advocate for clients, write new accounts, and manage renewals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Service day-to-day client needs including answering calls, emails, and other communications related to coverage questions, policy changes, payments, cancellations, etc.
- Manage the execution of all aspects of client renewal process including obtaining updated information, marketing, terms and pricing negotiation, quote review, presentation of renewal numbers to the Producer and the client (where applicable), and invoicing.
- Manage client relationship ensuring satisfaction.
- Manage and delegate work as needed to Associate Account Managers I and II to ensure their progress and workload is appropriate.
- Manage/Maintain relationships with underwriters to ensure positive results for clients, and negotiate coverage with underwriters.
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining electronic records.
- Use best practices and internal broker standards for service and maintenance of client files and information.
- Train and collaborate with team members to share and educate on coverage, exposures, and client knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Property & Causality License
- High School Diploma / GED
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet utilization
- Applied EPIC Agency Management System experience preferred but not required
- 4 or more years insurance brokerage experience or property casualty insurance experience in account management role preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Effective and professional communication orally and in writing with internal and external customers
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and agency management systems
- Critical Thinking: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry
- Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization
- Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships; work effectively with insurance and service vendors to gain cooperation in meeting clients’ needs
- Ability to respond to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, and handle difficult or emotional customer situations promptly and accurately
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
- Ability to efficiently gather pertinent information and facts, analyze and solve problems timely and thoroughly
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy
Working Conditions And Physical Demands
- Primarily involves remaining in a stationary position for the majority of the workday
- Frequent communication with colleagues and clients both in person and on the telephone
- Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
