About the Role

The Account Executive is responsible for the management and growth of all aspects of their assigned market segment and/or territory in relation to offering the gift of hospice to patients and their families. A primary responsibility is to identify, build, and nurture professional relationships with caregivers and decision makers in a variety of market segments including hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior centers, and other community gathering places. The objective is to reach more eligible patients and admit them earlier in their end-of-life journey into hospice so both the patient and their family receive the care and support needed. The Account Executive represents the organization in all healthcare and public settings.

Responsibilities

  • Drive data-driven growth of assigned hospice market segments.
  • Identify formal and informal leaders, decision makers, and caregivers within facilities and build strong professional relationships with each.
  • Build relationships with physicians, nurses, case managers, discharge planners, and other healthcare workers to yield admissions for eligible patients.
  • Drive to facilities and/or meet with individuals in assigned territory to ensure they understand the referral process and the quality of the hospice program.
  • Create and offer educational in-services and other sales training to referral sources in assigned territory.
  • Understand hospice eligibility, compliance regulations, documentation requirements, and familiarity with Hospice Conditions of Participation, state and federal regulations related to hospice.
  • Work closely with clinical team leads and facility administration.
  • Create and implement quarterly growth plans, weekly sales call plans, and daily sales call plans (including at least 10 calls/day and pre-call plans for each sales call).
  • Meet pre-determined quarterly goals, including developing and expanding accounts to demonstrate month-over-month growth.
  • Maintain daily documentation in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, including daily and weekly call schedules, appointments, and activities.
  • Assist Access, Admissions, and Liaison teams with Pre-Assessment Visits, Consent Visits, and managing the intake process for patients and their families.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of demonstrated sales experience and success in a healthcare setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and have a reliable source of transportation and/or be willing to drive a company car to assigned territories.
  • Available for after-hours and weekend referrals.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and other software packages utilized within the Circle of Life business suite.
  • Ability to clearly present data in individual or group settings.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to enter data accurately and drive business objectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including managing and coordinating projects, setting priorities, and managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using electronic health records systems and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
