This is an opportunity to join a high-growth organization where ambitious sales professionals can build their own book of business, work with a broad range of clients, and take advantage of an uncapped commission structure.The Business Consultant is an outside-sales role responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities. You will own the sales process from prospecting and initial appointment through negotiation, closing, implementation, and post-sale relationship management.The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-directed sales professional who thrives on generating new business, building relationships with decision-makers, and consistently exceeding sales goals. You will leverage networking, referrals, channel partners, self-generated opportunities, and the company's broader lead-generation resources to develop a strong pipeline.This position is not remote and requires regular interaction with prospective clients in the field, as well as time in the office. The role offers flexibility in how you manage your day while maintaining a strong focus on activity, appointments, new business, and revenue production. What You'll Do New Business Development & ProspectingProactively identify and develop new business opportunities within your market.Generate leads through networking, referrals, channel partnerships, prospecting, and self-generated opportunities.Develop relationships with business owners, executives, HR leaders, and other key decision-makers.Conduct strategic prospecting to gain access to prospective clients.Schedule and conduct initial appointments and sales presentations.Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and consistently create new opportunities.Leverage the company's extensive lead-generation resources as you establish a track record of success.Sales & Business Consulting Conduct discovery conversations to understand a prospect's business, workforce, operational, and organizational needs.Analyze client needs and recommend appropriate products, services, and solutions.Develop customized proposals and executive-level presentations.Negotiate pricing, scope of services, and terms with prospective clients.Maintain ownership of the entire sales cycle from initial prospecting through close.Complete all required sales documentation and finalize client service agreements.Consistently meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives.Track sales activity, opportunities, forecasts, and results using Salesforce.Client Relationship & Implementation Maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the implementation process and beyond.Schedule and conduct regular client meetings to address questions, concerns, and implementation needs.Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure an efficient and successful client experience.Ensure services delivered to assigned clients are accurate, timely, and aligned with expectations.Collect and analyze relevant business data to provide strategic guidance and identify additional opportunities.Market & Industry Development Stay current on industry trends, products, services, and evolving business practices.Monitor competitor activity and identify potential competitive threats and opportunities.Continuously expand your knowledge of the company's solutions and the PEO, HCM, HR, payroll, and benefits landscape.Participate in training, webinars, consulting meetings, industry conferences, and professional development opportunities.Share knowledge, best practices, and successful sales strategies with other team members. Business Consultants spend significant time in the field meeting with prospects and clients, while also maintaining a presence at their assigned office location. Travel may include client visits, company meetings, customer events, industry conferences, training sessions, and other business activities. Travel may involve personal or company-provided transportation, rideshare, ground transportation, or air travel as needed.The organization provides flexibility in how successful sales professionals manage their schedules, with an emphasis on results, activity, client engagement, and business Requirements What We're Looking For 2+ years of sales experience with a demonstrated history of generating new business and exceeding sales goals.Experience in outside sales, business development, account executive, or similar quota-carrying sales roles.Strong prospecting skills and the ability to independently generate new opportunities.Exceptional negotiation, presentation, communication, and closing skills.Ability to build relationships and influence business owners, executives, and other key stakeholders.Strong business acumen and the ability to understand a client's needs and translate them into effective solutions.Experience using a CRM system; Salesforce experience is preferred.Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple prospects, clients, and priorities.Self-starter mentality with a high level of accountability, urgency, and motivation.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Professional presence and excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to adapt sales strategies based on market conditions, competitive activity, and client needs.Valid, non-restrictive driver's license and reliable transportation required due to regular client and business travel.Preferred Industry Background Experience selling within PEO, HCM, payroll, HR technology, employee benefits, or related business services is highly desirable. Candidates may come from organizations such as other PEOs, HCM providers, payroll companies, benefits organizations, or comparable B2B sales environments. Experience selling to small and midsize businesses, enterprise organizations, startups, or a variety of industries can be valuable, as the organization serves clients across a broad range of industries and company sizes.
