Role Overview
Join Hearst Newspapers to help deliver impactful media campaigns for our customers. We are seeking a digitally savvy, highly motivated Account Executive to join our advertising team at The Austin American-Statesman.
Lead Generation
- Call on local small to medium-sized businesses to showcase the value of our suite of digital media advertising products.
- Generate new leads through cold calling, networking, and prospecting.
- Stay aware of new businesses opening in the area.
- Own the sales cycle and receive support from your local account management team.
Product Expertise
- Become an expert on our digital and print products/services.
- Receive global and local training during the first three weeks of hire.
- Continual learning and training throughout your career to grow and achieve success.
Sales Tactics
- Implement marketing strategies and deliver effective sales presentations.
- Consistently earn, retain, and increase revenue.
Advertising Solutions
- Create engaging advertising solutions to address clients' business needs.
Account Growth & Retention
- Manage and nurture existing client accounts to ensure satisfaction, retention, and upsell opportunities.
- Proactively identify ways to expand each client's business with us.
Client Solutions
- Recommend new products and promotional opportunities to current clients.
- Handle objections efficiently.
Forecasting
- Manage client pipeline and monthly revenue forecast in Salesforce.com.

Education & Experience
- BA/BS degree in Advertising, Marketing, or Communications a plus or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of business-to-business outside sales in advertising or media, with a proven success in new business acquisition and exceeding revenue goals.
Skills
- Superior presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Tech-savvy with experience in Salesforce, Excel, and PowerPoint.
