About the role

The Account Coordinator (AC) is part of US Foods’ team-based selling strategy to drive profitable growth. ACs proactively support Account Executives (AEs) to optimize AE’s selling effectiveness by assisting with prioritizing, preparing, performing, and pursuing customer opportunities. ACs will use their knowledge of US Foods’ customer contracts, products, services, and tools to support the selling process.

Work environment

Hybrid: approximately 90 percent remote/virtual and 10 percent onsite at one of the following West Region distribution offices within a 50-mile distance: Anchorage AK, Everett WA, Fife WA, Spokane WA, Billings MT, Portland OR, Salt Lake City UT, Albuquerque NM, Lubbock TX, Phoenix AZ, Las Vegas NV, Corona CA, Los Angeles CA, Fontana CA, San Francisco CA, Sacramento CA, Reno NV, Fresno CA. This role will most likely be in the office approximately 1 time per month or occasionally for training.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, approximately 7:00 AM PST – 4:00 PM PST.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations – 5%
    • Monitor AC service requests and take ownership of assigned AE requests
    • Monitor customer requirements for assigned AEs/customers from USF’s National Sales corporate office (Air Traffic Control-ATC) and take timely and accurate action as directed
  • Sales Support – 70%
    • Participate in weekly AE collaboration calls; proactively monitor assigned AE’s planned customer visits/activities and take actions to drive profitable growth
    • Contribute to outbound customer impression goals by initiating pre-planned customer interactions
    • Produce and analyze customer-specific reports to facilitate: maximizing contracted product utilization, decreasing slow/dead inventory, improving service levels, tracking complicated orders (customer events, large special orders), and additional reporting as needed by AEs and National Sales corporate office
    • Prepare Customer Business Reviews (CBRs) using existing templates; track completion and provide detailed analysis on sales impact; monitor follow-up, action items, and communicate to stakeholders
    • Proactively analyze customer product/service recommendations via CRM and present opportunities via USF’s e-commerce platform
    • Make informed product conversion recommendations to AEs to drive profitability; research key attributes (nutritionals, price, exclusive brands, compliance, etc.)
    • Monitor follow-up from product conversions: coordinate new item requests, submit customer forecasted volume to Replenishment (DCTs), and update customer lists/order guides
    • Analyze quarterly rebate bank statements and other programs to identify opportunities to grow profitable sales; make recommendations to AE and customers
    • Coordinate and track Limited Time Offers (LTOs) and new/discontinued items with other functions
    • Set up and proactively maintain customer master shopping lists/order guides to prevent out-of-stocks; partner with Merchandising to find acceptable substitutes
    • Monitor customer proprietary slow-moving and dead inventory; produce product listings and usage to AE and customer; recommend converting slow items to USF exclusive brands
    • Set up and maintain general ledger coding and invoice sequencing per customer-specific requirements
    • Resolve customer pricing concerns with Customer Operations; upload mass credit/debit requests as needed
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve credit-related issues
    • Ensure timely and accurate new customer set-up, onboarding, and maintenance
    • Analyze prospective customer product requirements and produce recommended order guides
    • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Customer Retention – 20%
    • Proactively identify at-risk customers based on churn indicators (category declines, poor service level, skip days); communicate and make recommendations to AEs for inclusion in SOS processes and Customer Satisfaction routines
  • Personal Development – 5%
    • Engage in formal US Foods performance management programs
    • Participate in personal development through leadership conversations and individual development plans
    • Attend sales meetings to stay current on strategies and product trainings/cuttings to grow product/vendor knowledge

Relationships

  • Internal: Customer Contact personnel, National Sales, National Credit, National Customer Maintenance, Merchandising, Replenishment, Revenue Management/Pricing, Warehouse, Transportation, Finance/Inventory Control
  • External: US Foods customers and vendors

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years in a sales, sales support, or sales analysis role with a prior track record for providing key customer support and maintaining customer relations
  • Experience with analytics and preparing presentations to report findings
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn proprietary US Foods systems: eCommerce, Salesforce.com (SOUS), PRISM, SODS, CDMR, Tandem
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Open to feedback; helps drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ability to respond to direction and quickly learn new procedures, processes, product information

Education

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prior US Foods National sales or sales support experience
  • Food service/distribution experience
  • Experience working virtually

Compensation

The expected base rate for this role is between $19 – $30 per hour. This role will also receive overtime compensation.
