About the role

As an Access Utility Worker at Metro, you perform mission-driven, people-focused service ensuring our Access Paratransit vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready to serve riders who depend on door-to-door transit services. This role involves vehicle fueling, preparing vehicles for daily service, and completing general janitorial and housekeeping duties to keep vehicles clean, fueled, and ready for service at various times throughout the day.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all vehicles are completely fueled and fluids are topped off and ready for service
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date fuel logs for each vehicle and fuel/fluid type
  • Park vehicles according to the facility parking plan
  • Maintain fuel island cleanliness; immediately contain and report any spills
  • Maintain work areas in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Perform general housekeeping and janitorial duties
  • Safely handle cleaning equipment and chemicals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • No more than 4 points on motor vehicle report
  • Experience driving large vehicles preferred, but not required
  • Experience with fueling and fluid servicing preferred, but not required
  • Customer service experience preferred

Pay

Starting pay rate: $20.44 per hour with yearly pay increases. Additional $0.50 per hour shift differential and overtime available across all shifts.

Schedule

1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift schedules available. Union/seniority-based regular schedule picks provide variability in job responsibilities.
