Access Specialist
Job Summary
The Access Specialist II is responsible for independently managing complex system access across EMR platforms, billing systems, and payer portals, while serving as a subject-matter expert for access workflows, troubleshooting, and compliance standards.
This role handles higher-complexity access requests, supports enterprise onboarding and go-live initiatives, and provides guidance to Access Specialist I team members.
The Access Specialist II partners closely with Project Leads, Access Leads, and operational teams to ensure access readiness, accuracy, and timeliness across onboarding, transitions, and ongoing operational support.
Essential Functions And Tasks
- Coordinate and manage access provisioning for EMR systems, billing platforms, and payer portals
- Submit and track access requests including new user setups, account modifications, password resets, and account terminations
- Assign and validate appropriate access types based on role and operational function
- Ensure URLs, login credentials, and role-based configurations are accurately documented and communicated
- Utilize internal ticketing systems to track status, document responses, and ensure resolution
- Maintain audit logs, access tracking, and configuration documentation
- Support onboarding and offboarding access activities
- Independently manage complex and high-risk access scenarios across multiple systems
- Serve as escalation point for Access Specialist I for complex access and troubleshooting issues
- Coordinate access readiness for client go-lives, acquisitions, integrations, and system transitions
- Validate role-based access configurations for accuracy, security, and workflow alignment
- Proactively identify access risks and dependencies and escalate with recommended actions
- Perform advanced access audits and reconciliation for compliance and operational accuracy
- Identify recurring access issues and recommend process improvements
- Support testing and validation of new systems, payer portals, or access workflows
- Provide informal coaching and knowledge-sharing to Access Specialist I team members
- Participate in special projects related to access standardization, automation, or platform changes
Education And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or IT-related field preferred.
- Experience in healthcare access administration, medical billing operations, or healthcare IT support.

Compensation
Base compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. This position is also eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus in accordance with company policies.
