Access Services Supervisor

The Access Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of respective units, including scheduling for appropriate coverage, break and meal breaks. Approval of personal leave or combined leave time and tracking of FMLA, sign-off of Kronos weekly, monitoring of lateness and unscheduled absences, and escalation of performance issues to managers are essential responsibilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversight of daily operations to support efficient patient throughput and key performance indicators.
  • Facilitation of patient throughput and point-of-service collection, including adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Multitasking in a high-stress environment with mission-critical expectations.
  • Supporting the manager in human resource management tasks such as interviews, hiring, counseling, coaching, and termination.
  • Ensuring appropriate coverage of patient-facing areas, including scheduling and self-scheduling if necessary.
  • Auditing workflows in real-time to ensure standardization and accuracy of registration, updating the training manual as needed.
  • Ensuring regulatory forms are completed for patients requiring inpatient or observation stays before transfer.
  • Timely completion of annual evaluations.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for staff and patients, escalating issues to security as warranted.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
  • 3-5 years Hospital Billing and Registration experience - Required
  • 5-7 years' experience absent an associate degree - Required
  • Strong knowledge of Billing and Registration regulatory requirements - Required
  • Supervisory experience - Required
  • Demonstrated Leadership success - Required
  • Understanding of revenue cycle best practices - Required
  • Ability to supervise in a highly stressful environment - Required
  • Analysis, trend, and tracking of revenue cycle issues - Required
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet/Excel - Required
  • Excellent customer focus with a strong emphasis on the optimal patient experience - Required
  • Knowledge of IT integration concepts, system issues, policy and procedure development, and training resource development - Required
  • ‘Thinking on feet’ for operational issues impacting patient flow - Required
  • Organized, methodical, and strong time management skills - Required
  • Demonstrated success in managing a high-functioning team and maintaining a positive culture - Required
  • Understanding of Federal, State, EMTALA, Joint Commission, Medicare, and Medicaid regulations - Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skills - Required
  • CHAM - Certified Healthcare Access Manager within 1-1/2 Years - Required
  • Learning partner and Leadership modules - Preferred
