About the role
The Access Services Representative responds to incoming calls from both internal and external callers which may include, but are not limited to, patients, visitors, hospital staff, clinic staff, and physicians. Patient calls to the After Hours Answering Service are documented using an encounter in EPIC, the electronic medical record. After-hours answering service for Home Care Medical and Horizon Home Care & Hospice patient calls are completed using the SPOK directory. Assistance is also provided to other work groups as needed. Assists in orienting and training new and existing employees. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming calls from internal and external callers including patients, visitors, hospital staff, clinic staff, and physicians
- Document patient calls to the After Hours Answering Service using EPIC electronic medical record
- Complete after-hours answering service for Home Care Medical and Horizon Home Care & Hospice patient calls using the SPOK directory
- Provide assistance to other work groups as needed
- Assist in orienting and training new and existing employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience required
- Previous telecommunications and hospital experience preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Skills
- Strong data entry, organizational and multi-tasking skills required
- Solid working knowledge of communication devices and software with thorough understanding of the AMCOM system
- Familiarity with general usage and spelling for specific medical terminology
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record, Epic is a plus
Schedule
- Shift 4: Shifts chosen at the discretion of the staff member
- Requirement of 32 hours per month, with 16 hours being worked during the weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday)
- Minimum of 2 holidays per year: one major and one minor holiday, as chosen by the staff member
