Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, team-oriented, customer service-driven individual to manage the day-to-day operational activities of one or more functional library service areas, including satellite locations. The ideal candidate will need to maintain consistent policies, efficient processes, and engaged staff.
Essential Functions
- Develops, recommends, and administers policies, procedures, and processes in support of University library's service operations.
- Manages most complex issues.
- Analyzes data to determine achievement with assigned goals and compliance with rules and regulations.
- Affords assistance in developing library service strategies and priorities.
- Projects budgetary needs and monitors expenditures.
- Led the collection, analysis, documentation, and coordination of library service expenses.
- Oversees the supervision of staff including work allocation, training, promotion, and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution.
- Evaluates performance and recommends staff changes.
- Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance objectives.
Job Duties
- Manage the public service functions of the Library's Circulation Unit (circulation, equipment loans, reserves, stacks, and facilities).
- Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and assess full-time staff (currently 5 people).
- Manage the schedule of the building and the approximately 60 function and student spaces within the building.
- Oversee the maintenance of the facility.
- Prepare and administer the budgets of the unit.
- Develop, interpret, and apply policies, best practices, and procedures for the Unit.
- Attend department and unit meetings, training sessions, and special events.
- Maintain data on unit activities and prepare routine reports.
- Identify and report on recommendations for continuous improvement of the unit's efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in Unit and Departmental projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in library or related field, with one (1) year of experience in a supervisory role.
- Every 15 hours of graduate college coursework beyond a bachelor's degree can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

- Ability to adapt to new practice and theory.
- Demonstrated experience working well independently and in teams with varied user communities.
- Demonstrated experience with project management.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external locations.
